Anonymous asked: yeah true! i'm depressed and i do like seeing things that i can relate to but i do get depressed when i see them but I deleted a lot of my negative blogs and followed a lot of christian blog because i'm christian and i believe in God and its helped a lot. stay strong!
You too, sweetie! I’m glad some people do notice the effect it has on them - but I wish more people noticed! Obviously we all want a place where we can express our inner feelings, but I think dwelling on them hurts rather than helps. And I would know - I’ve done enough dwelling for my time! Congrats on feeling better and keep your faith strong!
Anonymous asked: you both are right about tumblr but also someone can be on there tumblr and just unfollow the blogs that reblogs depressing things. i used to follow a lot of depressing blogs and i did feel more depressed when i saw the posts but you can just unfollow most of them so u can express urself but also follow positive blogs and feel more inspired.
Also true! I just think depressed people like to see depressing things (things they can relate to), making it harder for them to become more positive. But this is exactly what I’ve done to my dash. It does help, but it’s not something depressed people do without being prompted, most likely.

This is true! But the knowing when to stay away part is difficult. Tumblr is both comforting but can also be triggering. It helps to see others feel the same way you do, but sometimes their dangerous coping mechanisms can rub off on you as you witness - “this helps them, it can help me too”.
And I have (so many!) of my own issues so I don’t want anyone to think I’m being mean by saying this, but people reach out for help through Tumblr and it can seem (or actually be) attention-seeking behavior, whether something that needs to be worried about or not. I’ve heard other Tumblr users calling 911 for people saying they were in the process of killing themselves, only to find it’s a hoax.
One of the many reasons social media is just plain difficult. It can make you care too much at once, too little later, get support one second, bullied the next. It’s never-ending and I hope psychologists and other professionals start analyzing social media behaviors in with observational behaviors to see the direction in which the human race is going.
